Description

We're seeking a career music educator. We are expanding our music department and will add part-time hourly positions for the remainder of the 22-23 school year and will be hiring a full-time music specialist to begin in July 2023. The ideal candidate will begin as an hourly employee this year and transition to full-time, although this is not required.

We are an innovative music department focused on place-based, culturally responsive curriculum. Students participate in a variety of activities in general music class. The ideal candidate should have familiarity with standard general music activities such as playing the recorder and Orff instruments as well as the willingness to teach in areas such as class guitar, class keyboard, multi-part singing, traditional folk instruments, and world musics.

The Emerson Waldorf School is a small private school that is a part of the global network of Waldorf schools. See waldorfeducation.org for more information. Waldorf schools are internationally renowned for their arts focus. The parents in our school community are highly supportive of the music program and it is a priority for the school's leadership. Students have general music classes twice weekly, and there is a healthy annual budget for materials. In general, the students are enthusiastic about music and come to classes with great foundational skills, such as the ability to sing in tune.

We provide robust onboarding and mentoring for new faculty. An experienced music teacher will support the new hire in this position.
