Are you interested in teaching band? Do you want to help students find passion, purpose, and fun by expressing themselves through music? Duke School is looking for a Middle School Band Director, for the 2022-23 afterschool Prime Time programming year!

Who We Are Looking for

Duke School is a leader in project-based learning, and we are looking for a Band Director to lead and revamp our program! We are looking for someone with experience playing and teaching students using multiple instruments, someone who is excited to help build and mold an already eager musical community into an even more special focused one.

Duke School Prime Time afterschool programming took a hiatus as Covid took the world over, but we are relaunching our programming and want to do so with the introduction of Band again for our community. The Band Director will be a self-starter, a motivator, patient, compassionate, a great communicator, a great problem solver and most importantly will care about the students here in the Duke School community. We are seeking someone who will help lead our students from beginners to lifelong players of music because of the passion they found while playing in a band.

Duke School is seeking a director that can develop, lead, and teach bands ranging from students who have never played an instrument to students who are well equipped to play on the big stage in front of the entire school population. The right candidate will thrive with the challenge of forming, building and leading the Duke School band in a positive manner. The ability to schedule multiple groups properly, teach multiple groups properly and arrange rewarding performing opportunities is a key competency for this position.
