Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in conference sessions for a minimum of two days and are encouraged to attend the Collegiate Business Meeting on Sunday\, November 8th at 4:00 PM.  \nAll collegiate members with financial need are welcome to apply; collegiate students who are first-time conference attendees will receive priority. Please note that this scholarship award does not cover NAfME/NCMEA Membership which is required to attend the conference. \nPlease visit https://nafme.org/join-renew/ to join or renew your membership before submitting your application. \n  \nAPPLICATION \n  \nApplication Requirements:\n\nCurrent collegiate member of NCMEA/NAfME.\nCurrently enrolled at a North Carolina higher education university/college.\nCommitted to attending at least two days of the 2026 conference.\nNo funds for cost of registration are available from either your university or Collegiate NAfME chapter.\nContact phone number for your C-NAfME chapter faculty advisor or a Music Education professor who knows you well is provided.\nStatement of financial need is included.\n\nSelection Process:\n\nApplications will be reviewed by the Collegiate Executive Board in the order in which they are received. SUMMARY:Collegiate State Officer Nominations Open
DESCRIPTION:2026 elections for the 2026-27 Collegiate NCMEA/NAfME State Offices will be held during the NCMEA conference at the Collegiate Business meeting on Sunday\, November 8\, at 4:00 PM. Candidates for office must be in attendance at this meeting and are asked to give a brief platform speech (1-2 minutes) about their interest in serving NCMEA as a collegiate officer prior to voting.  \nOffices to be elected are as follows: Vice-President/President-Elect\, Corresponding Secretary\, Recording Secretary\, and Advocacy Chair. Descriptions and responsibilities for each office should be reviewed prior to nomination. \nCollegiate NAfME chapters may nominate one candidate for each office. Individuals running for Vice-President/President-Elect must be in the first or second year of their undergraduate program and be willing to serve for a minimum two years on the Executive Board. All other officers serve a one-year term. \nEach active Collegiate NAfME chapter represented at the meeting will receive 10 votes (per office) that may be be split between several candidates or voted for only one individual. \nApplications must be received no later than 5 PM Friday\, October 23\, 2026. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

SUMMARY:Piano Showcase Deadline
DESCRIPTION:  \nNCMEA is excited to host its first-ever Piano Student Showcase at 10:00 a.m. on Monday\, November 9. \nTeachers with students interested in performing should complete and submit the application form by October 18. The Piano Committee will review all submissions\, and teachers will be notified by October 20 whether their student has been selected. \nImportant Performance Information\n	•	Students must perform the exact piece submitted with their application. Please do not request repertoire changes after submission\, as the selected piece is part of the evaluation criteria.\n	•	Selected students\, teachers\, and families are responsible for their own transportation to and from the event.\n	•	Students selected for the showcase\, along with their teachers\, will receive recognition from NCMEA for their participation.\n	•	Selected students should arrive at 9:00 a.m. for a walk-through and rehearsal with members of the NCMEA Piano Committee.\n	•	Family members and teachers may enter at 10:00 a.m.\, unless an earlier arrival is needed because of a student’s age or another special circumstance approved by the committee. \nWho Can Participate?\nThe NCMEA Piano Committee hopes to feature students of all ages and ability levels who are taking piano classes in North Carolina public schools. \nSelection Criteria\nThe committee will consider the following when selecting performers:\n	•	Students performing original compositions\n	•	Students performing their own arrangements\n	•	Quality of performance\, including fluency\, dynamics\, and expression\n	•	Appropriate performance length: 1:00–3:30 minutes\n	•	Stage presence\, including posture and confident expression
Teachers are encouraged to video students walking to the piano\, performing\, and bowing at the end.\n	•	A diverse representation of student ages\, school locations\, ability levels\, and musical genres \nBecause this is the first year NCMEA is hosting a student piano performance showcase\, the committee is committed to making the process as transparent as possible and answering teachers’ questions along the way. \nPlease complete every section of the form carefully and accurately. SUMMARY:Application Deadline - Singer/Songwriter & Music Producer Showcase
DESCRIPTION:We are excited that you are applying to participate in NCMEA’s Singer/Songwriter and Music Producer Showcase! All applicants must fill out the information below to be considered for the showcase. Applying for the showcase does not guarantee you will be invited to participate. Once your application has been reviewed\, the popular music education committee will reach out to you regarding your acceptance. Space is limited.  \nPlease note: The showcase will be a 2 hour session hosted at the Benton Convention Center in Winston-Salem at NCMEA’s state conference on November 8th from 3:30PM to 5:30PM. Teachers and/or parents are responsible for travel to and from the conference event\, including lodging (if applicable). Equipment (Amps\, microphones\, amplification and project screen) will be provided. \nApplicants should plan to submit a video and/or audio recording of your song(s). Only one song is necessary for the application.
