SUMMARY:SoundForge 2025 at Catawba College
DESCRIPTION:The deadline to register has passed\, but reach out to Jonathan Kladder if you’re interested in getting your students involved\, or if you just want to know more about the event.\n \n \nAll music educators\, including PK-12 and music education students enrolled in a music education program interested in experiencing and watching the process of students writing songs and collaborating with guest artists\, are invited to attend SoundForge at Catawba College on Saturday\, February 1st. A certificate of completion will be provided for attendees who would like professional development credits.  \nAll applicants must fill out the information below to be considered for the event. Applying for the event does not guarantee you will be invited to participate. Space is limited. \nPlease note: This is a one day event with a concert at the end of the day. Teachers are responsible for travel to and from the event\, including lodging (if needed). Lunch will be provided the day of the event. Equipment (Amps\, microphones\, drum sets\, and keyboards) will be provided. \nTeachers are limited to 2 groups for the event. Please submit a new form for any additional ensemble you are applying. The October Colloquium addressed music education and service learning. \nAbout the February 27 Colloquium\nAs a preview to the NAfME Council of Music Program Leaders Forum in April\, we present this colloquium\, which will use the Blueprint for Strengthening the Music Teacher Profession to share ways in which music program leaders can support pre-service and early career music educators in their teaching journey. DESCRIPTION:NCMEA invites session proposals to be submitted for consideration for the 2025 NCMEA Professional Development Conference in Winston-Salem\, NC on November 8-11\, 2025. Conference participants come from all educational levels and include K-12 students and teachers\, pre-service collegiates\, and higher education faculty in the fields of general music\, band\, chorus\, jazz\, orchestra\, guitar\, piano\, popular music\, and music technology. \nWe invite proposals that cultivate a vision of music education that is inclusive\, collaborative\, and expansive\, keeping in mind the ideals set forth by NCMEA’s strategic framework: \n\nReflect diversity in our profession and represent the wide and changing spectrum of our population. This representation may include various cultures\, abilities\, economic backgrounds\, and gender identities;\nDevelop leadership to advocate for music education in the classroom\, in school programs\, and in the community and represent current trends in education policy at the local\, state\, and federal level;\nProvide opportunities for all students to create\, perform\, respond\, and connect to various styles of music;\nEnhance music teaching through combining effective and dynamic new practices with proven strategies.\n\nThe deadline for submission is February 28\, 2025 at 11:59pm EST.
