DESCRIPTION:A NAfME Town Hall on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Music Education: What It Is and Why It Won’t Replace You\nMay 20\, 2024\n8:00 pm – 9:15 pm (ET)\nUse of AI is accelerating at an unprecedented pace\, with growing complexity\, impacting every field and profession\, and all levels and content areas of music education. Join NAfME elected leaders and members of NAfME’s AI Task Force for an interactive town hall focused on AI and music education. Meet members of the AI Task Force and learn from their insights on AI and music education\, what AI is\, and why it won’t replace you. \nThis town hall will include a panel discussion\, a short presentation on why AI won’t replace you\, and a breakout room discussion opportunity facilitated by AI Task Force members. Breakout discussion sessions will focus on AI and music education for different levels\, including higher education (and administration)\, collegiate\, secondary school\, and elementary school. \nNAfME presents this live virtual event at no charge to all as a service to the music education profession. To register\, you must enter your NAfME member information or create a nonmember account. After registering\, check your email for instructions. A recording of this program will be available to all registrants for one week following the live event.

DESCRIPTION:Participants will learn about the evolution of Latin American music with Dr. Diana V. Sáez\, the Director of Choral Activities at Towson University in Baltimore\, Maryland. The music of Latin America is the product of many cultures mostly Native American\, Spanish\, and African. When the elements of these cultures combined\, they created new forms of music such as cumbia\, merengue and salsa. In this fun and interactive session\, we will listen\, sing\, and learn some of these songs arranged for choirs of all levels. \nApr 13\, 2024 10:00 AM \nREGISTER HERE FOR THE WEBINAR  \nDr. Diana V. DESCRIPTION:Benton Convention Center\nSalem Ballroom 2\nAny teacher can know all the latest techniques\, plan the greatest lessons\, and implement effective classroom management strategies. But what is your “sound?” Your “sound” is your value as well as the unique personal significance you bring to the classroom. Maximizing your awareness and perspective in those you teach and seeing the “sound” in yourself is arguably the most important skill you can possess as a teacher. Without a strong sense of personal significance and emotional resilience\, most teachers won’t stick around long enough in the profession to realize their potential and become not just teachers but phenomenal educators. In a profession that loses 50% of its workforce within the first five years of their careers\, and with teacher shortage estimates in the hundreds of thousands yearly for qualified teachers\, it is critical now more than ever to find new ways to encourage\, equip\, and empower teachers to fall in love with teaching. That starts by seeing the “sound.”
