Applying For Conference Performance

Each year, music educators from across the state of North Carolina gather to hear outstanding choruses at the November NCMEA - In Service Conference. As I listen to the choruses, I am reminded of how lucky I am to be a part of such a fine group of music educators who share their passion for music and children and bring the two together as one; resounding Victor Hugo’ s thoughts that “music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.”

As you begin to prepare your choruses for school concerts, District Festival and other special choral events, I encourage you to consider submitting an application to perform for the 2009 NCMEA In-Service Conference. Choruses that receive Superior ratings at District Festival are invited to submit a DVD, CD, cassette tape, or videotape of their chorus performing three choral selections of varying styles. The NCMEA Conference Performance application is available on this website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email me.

Congratulations to the choral directors and their choruses for submitting performance CD ’s to be considered for the 2008 NCMEA In-Service Ensemble Performance. I never cease to be amazed by the talent of the teachers and their singers in the state of North Carolina. Musically, Leigh Walters
