Collegiate Section
Welcome to the Collegiate Section of the North Carolina Music Educators Association! As a state affiliate of the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference (CMENC), our organization focuses on preparing future music educators by giving them an opportunity for professional orientation and development during their time at higher education institutions. Through the utilization of statewide service projects, state conferences, and events sponsored by individual chapters, the members of the Collegiate Section of NCMEA gain an understanding of numerous principles related to the music education profession. These includeÖ- The basic truths and principles that underlie the role of music in human life
- The philosophy and function of the music education profession
- The professional interests of members involved in the local, state, division, and national levels
- The music industryís role in support of music education, and
- The knowledge and practices of the professional music educator as facilitated through chapter activity
