NCMEA Awards, Grants, and Scholarships Deadlines

AWARDS

NCMEA gives four awards to outstanding music educators and to friends of music education whose contributions to the profession are exceptionally noteworthy.

NCMEA Hall of Fame
NCMEA Hall of Fame Award honors those NCMEA members who have made an extraordinary contribution to our organization. The qualifications for this honor include being a member of NCMEA/MENC for at least 30 years, having a record of excellence in teaching and/or administration, having a record of betterment to the profession, and of professional ideals and academic integrity.

NCMEA Honors Administrator Award
NCMEA Honors Administrator should be exceptionally skillful in their respective unit and should be especially aware of the cultural arts (particularly music) as an indispensable part of the school curriculum as indicated by their personal attitude and philosophy; results in terms of understanding programs; number of teachers in music and other cultural arts; number of children involved in music and other cultural arts; opportunities for teacher growth; financial support for the arts; evidence of community and school board support; and understanding of the music programís special needs in terms of space, program and equipment.

NCMEA Honorary Life Membership
Honorary Life Membership is conferred by the NCMEA Board of Directors.
NCMEA Past Presidents are awarded an Honorary Life Membership to NCMEA. Sections may nominate a member for Honorary LIfe Membership from those who hold 25 Year Membership.

NCMEA Music Educator Advocate Award
The Music Education Advocate Award is made to a person who has demonstrated exceptional visible support and advocacy for music and the arts in North Carolina. The award will be made to a person who has demonstrated exceptional visible support and advocacy for music and the arts in North Carolina as demonstrated by
* Personal attitude, actions and philosophy
* Visible success in improving the general status of the arts in North Carolina
* Leadership in the arts
* Effective advocacy for music education and the other arts
